Legislators and fellow citizens of NC,

This bill to reform congressional and legislative distict boundaries is long overdue. Please support and fight for passage of this bill and let us once and for all stop this game that gives an unfair advantage to the party that is in power at the moment and makes a mockery of our democractic process. Let's fix this problem once and for all. It is indeed time to put voters first.

Thank you,
Kris Coeytaux

Being African-American it pains me no end that my ancestors were brutally intimidated, not only with the threat but actual carrying out of murder through lynchings, burnings, and other nefarious means, to disallow them what should have been their constitutional right to vote. In spite of these heinous actions they fought and died until it became a reality. So, to me, any effort to restrict or otherwise taint the electoral process I take as a personal affront. The obvious targets of this new legislation are people of color, the poor, the elderly, young students and any others it is felt will support anything other than Tea Party or Republican candidates. It is a shame in this day and age we are seemingly headed backwards into the days of the old Confederate South. I can only hope that more level heads prevail in these proceedings.

I appreciate what this group, "MomsRising" is about but a child's education should not be left up to the government in the first place. If you continue to throw fuel on a fire, the fire will burn out of control much like our state and federal government's spending habits. More revenue is not the answer, spending cuts in the RIGHT places is the answer. If these mothers truly care about their children's education, they would work to privatize education and decouple it from the wasteful State and Federal governments.

I understand that these mothers are concerned about the teachers and teacher aids that are going to be laid off by the school boards, but that's really just the old tried and true fear tactic that gets tax hikes passed. When a county or city are low on funds, where's the first place they cut? Public service, law enforcement, fire departments and so on. The areas that affect you most because fear and uncertainty in the public sector work. There are tons of other places that cuts can be made, namely from the top and not at the bottom.

This group should go back to the drawing borad and spend their time and energy putting pressure on their local school boards to make cuts in their administration.
